Actuary Internship? -

What are the requirements for an actuary internship? Do I need to have exams? Must I know someone in the company? I've never heard of a company offering an actuarial internship. While I am unaware of an "actuary internship" several insurance programs offer Associate/Recently College grad programs to introduce fresh blood into the insurance industry. In order to find out about them what I did was just go to some of the major insurance companies websites and check out the jobs section. From my experience the entry level training programs are posted year round because it's a yearly thing. Usually they look for a college degree, though you don't have to be "right out of college". I was about a year and a half out after getting my degree and still got into one. If you do find one of these programs, understand it is more of a personality fit they are looking for instead of true credentials, as most entry level people don't have much experience. Good luck. Keep in mind actuarys are kind of regarded as the nerds in insurance because they do A LOT of number crunching but also get compensated pretty well in return.
