Contract phone broken, no insurance? -
I've been on my 18mth contract with o2 for 5 mths but my phone is pretty much broken and I'm in dire need of a new one. I don't have insurance. will o2 give me a replacement (of any sort) or do I need to buy a new phone? If the phone has been accidentally damaged and you have a good home insurance policy you might be covered for a replacement. Some home insurance policies cover you for possessions away from the home. The same thing happened to me. If you have verizon, im not sure about the other carriers, then they will replace the same phone for free without insurance. However, it has to be in the first year that you have your phone. Hope this helps! =) Did your phone just die or did you break it? If the phone just failed, I'd ask O2 for a replacement. If you broke it, then I'd buy a new one and not resort to dishonesty. Insurance is a good idea if phone damage or theft is likely to be a problem but being careful is probably cheaper. I'm with T-Mobile. They replaced my phone for free when my contract was up and they wanted to force me into another one, but when it happened again, and I was still under contract, they wouldn't. So I bought the insurance, because I have a bad habit of putting my phones in the washing machine. buy the insurance first and then say iv broken my mobile. I'm guessing that you will need to buy a new phone. If that's expensive, you might try Ebay for a used phone.. just make sure that it will be compatible. Try for a very reputable seller. Does your cell service offer any prepaid phones? That's what I did. We have ATT and I bought a phone that cost $20 dollars instead of another contract phone which would have cost me almost $200. Just put my SIM card in it and it works perfect. Most peoples mobile phone is covered on their household insurance - contact them to see what they can do - otherwise I would : 1) talk to O2 - they may help you out if you make a lot of calls 2) buy a pay as you go and us e the sim... note if you buy a PAYG phone get one with O2 or you will need to unlock it!
