I am looking for an attorney (work related)? -
I was offered a $1.00 raise per hour for relocating to another of my job locations on Sept. 17th, 2007. I Have inquired on several occasions when will my pay raise would be on my check . It has been over 3 months and I was just terminated from the company and still my retro was not on my final check. I need to know how can I get my money Plus other violations have occured. I assume that you have discussed this with your former employer already. I suggest that you discuss this with the Dept of Labor, The Employment Security Dept. to see if they can take action. Perhaps you will need to file a small claims suit for which you will not need an attorney.. will probably run about $30-$50. If you have enough reasons, you might try calling legal aid which handles cases for people without the big bucks. Good Luck. Why were u terminated? Did they give a reason.? Collect the unemployment and look for another job after a few months. . OK, $1.00 per hour for 3 month at 40 hrs/week totals around $520 before taxes. Do you realize that an attorney will cost you more than that? If you weren't guaranteed that extra $1.00/hr in an employment contract, you have no case. OK, you realize you're going to have to pay out of pocket for the attorney, right, or sue your employer in small claims court by yourself? See, an attorney isn't going to take this on contingency. You're out about $480. An attorney usually gets about $200 AN HOUR for their work. There isn't enough cash here to make it worth their while, so you'll have to pay them up front. Having said that, if you're willing to put down a retainer of $5,000 or so, it shouldn't be hard to find an attorney. But you'll need one licensed to practice law in your state. Which you didn't mention. YELLOW PAGES look up lawyers that specialize in labour disputes...
