I need to see a neurologist but don't have health insurance. Anyone have any suggestions? -

Neurologists offices will only let u in the door with insurance because its too expensive. Of course to see a neurologist there has to be a possibly big problem, this has all been very stressfull and I don't know who to ask for help. Please if u've got suggestions of options let me know.Thanx No, that's not true. You can find one who will do the initial visit evaluation for you, for a pre-negotiated cash price. The problem isn't necessarily big. But you're not going to know until you go. Get the phone book out, and start calling. Ask every office if you can get a cash price for $50 for an initial consult, and if they say no, ask them if they know anyone who will do it. If you are low income, you can try applying for Medicaid to see if you qualify. There are neurologists who will accept Medicaid. It might take a little longer to get an appointment (not all the neurologists in your area may accept Medicaid, so the ones who do might have a backlog of patients), but at least you'd get an appointment eventually. Otherwise, if your job doesn't currently offer insurance, you can try looking for another job. (Assuming you're employed, of course.) Depending on the terms of that policy and your personal circumstances, you may still have a pre-existing clause this way though. If you're being referred to a neurologist, you'll likely have a hard time getting a private insurance policy of your own to cover the visit. try UCSF in San francisco me uncle had sezuers for a long time and was put on life support a few times and when he went to see them they did a bunch of tests and then ended up doing brain surgery on him but he is alot better hope have the same luck Call your local hospital and explain your circumstances. At our local hospital, a neurologist dedicates a day a month into providing no cost or no cost neurological care at the clinic. Maybe your hospital has a similar arrangement. call and ask to speak to a social worker. Get insurance or move to Canada I see a neurologist also and I have insurance , I have seizures . You are going to have to get insurance some way because you will be paying alot off money if you don't . At this time I take three kinds off pills . If I didn't have it I wound be paying around 1500.00 dollers each month buying all three at one time if I didn't have it . So I hope you find insurance some way . Look into the closest medical school in your area. There are often patient clinics where you can make appointments with graduate students, under the supervision of medical professors. Appointments and analysis is often FREE, or at minimal cost. I live in the Houston area, and this is a very viable option for us, with the Medical Center complex only a 1 hour drive away. But even if you don't have the convenience factor, finding a medical school within a day trip could be a life-saver for you. You will not be able to, at this point, apply for an individual health plan with a current existing condition. However, after you have completed treatment, you really must consider it. There are ways to make insurance happen in a cost-effective manner. Please see my helpful sites below.
