Im filling out an online form for a geico ins. quote. Its asking me what kind of pip coverage i want? -
1) decline 2)pip insured only 3) pip insured and relative only 4)pip insured with excluded work loss. Also they want 2 know if i want additional pip coverage. What should i say? Well, you need to just close that window, and go to a local agent. See, with Geico, you ARE your own agent, so you need to figure out which PIP limit meets your needs, and meets the requirements set by your state. But if you go to your own local agent, THEY will figure out which limits you need, explain the coverage (it can vary a bit by state), and help you pick which limit you need. PIP is personal injury protection. It normally helps pay medical bills and lost wages if you were in an accident. That is your decision if you take it or not. It is required in my state. I take the minimum of 4500 but that is because I have excellent health care insurance and a nice savings account. If you have no health insurance and would have financial problems if you were in a serious accident you might want to think about getting it, unless of course it is too expensive. pip = personal injury protection Typically, insurance rates will vary from State to State and can even vary by ZIPCODE! The best thing to do is call a LOCAL independent agent. Don't go across town, or to some other city - look for someone CLOSE. Just look in the phone book for the PIA or Big I (Trusted Choice) logos and you will find a professional licensed agent that will be able to help you solve your insurance problems, and give you rate comparisons of several different companies. An independent insurance agent will normally have a dozen different companies and if he cannot help you, he should be networked with other local agents that can. Most of the replies on this site say "go to this on-line carrier or that on-line carrier or that 1-800 number" but I'm sure that when you do, you will find some impersonal computer user with a script to work from and you won't be able to talk with the same person everytime you have a problem! So, turn off the computer and call an agent in the morning! Good luck, drive RESPONSIBLY and I hope this helps As stated before....close the window! Geico is a joke, might be cheaper but you have nobody that will take care of you. With any questions or problems you basically just call a hotline, get some random person, and get shafted in the end. I work for a large insurance company and everyone that leaves us for Geico is back within six months.
