Insurance coverage? -
I live in Tulsa where all the trees came crashing down everywhere. My service line is ripped off and there are trees all on top of my roof, deck, fence. The insurance agents can't come out until next week so I had some friends with chainsaws come over and we got to work. In addition electricians are so booked, but I have a friend who will do everything excpet actually re-connect the line for me. I want to give them some money for their time and labor since this is covered by insurance. But I'm I being dumb by doing this work myself? Will insurance pay anything for your time and labor if we do it ourselves? I'm so past my deductible so it really doen'st matter at this point. Yes, they will pay for YOUR labor, especially for debris removal. KEEP IN MIND. Policies have a LIMITATION on how much they'll pay to cut down and remove trees! It's usually $500, for trees or parts of trees that hit a structure like the house, deck or fence. It's not $500 per tree, it's $500 REGARDLESS of the number of trees. And there's NO coverage for removal of stumps, or trees that did NOT hit a structure. So, your claim is, cost to repair roof, cost to repair deck, cost to repair fence, less deductible, plus $500 for debris removal. PERIOD. If you have a $3,000 bill for tree removal, you eat the other $2500. READ YOUR POLICY. It's under the "additional coverages" section. depending on the insurance company but some will just cut a check for the damages and it is up to you to fix it
