Terminating health insruance? -

My monthly health insurance policy ends on December 14th. They already billed me for another 3 month with a grace period of 30 days from December 14. If i cancel my policy now, do i need to pay an extra fee since its few days after December 14th? I did not have any claims done after December 14th. Will i be liable for health insurance claims billed before December 14th if i terminate it now? Liability for claims is based on date of service, not date of billing. And yes, you are subject to paying an extra fee, as you're technically cancelling the coverage mid-term. No you will not have to pay for after Dec 14, BUT notify them immediately. have you called them and told them you want to terminate? If you did, you should not be responsible fpr any debts after Dec.14th. If you are counting on non ayment to terminate your policy, they will bill you right up to the day that they feel your policy should stop. Anything before he day you get a notice that says the policy is terminated you are not responsible for. Any services performed before December 14th will be paid by the health insurance company. However you need to contact the company to notify them that you will not be renewing the policy. If you don't do that the company will eventually cancel your policy but the process of notifying you that your coverage has been canceled for non payment could take another month. In the meantime the premium is being earned by the company until the effective date shown on the cancellation notice you receive.
